Frank Lloyd
Wright's Taliesin®
Frank
Lloyd Wright's international acclaim and his
standing as one of the greatest architects of
the 20th century are two good reasons to visit
his Wisconsin masterpiece, Taliesin. But you
don't have to be a Wright-o-phile to enjoy the
informative tours and the breathtaking beauty of
this property tucked into one of southwestern
Wisconsin's most charming valleys. On a
beautiful spring, summer, or fall day in the
clear air of the midwest, the views from the
residence's spectacular living room are a sure
cure for any jaded sightseer. The estate is
home to five Wright-designed structures which
offer an unparalleled opportunity to appreciate
the breadth of his 70-year career.
Thanks to the
on-going preservation and outreach effort by its
partner, the
Taliesin Preservation, Inc., the 600-acre
estate and home are popular with a wide variety
of visitors from around the world and across the
country. Tours are carefully designed to give
visitors plenty of opportunity to experience
firsthand spaces only Wright could create.

person ($14 for seniors; students: children
under 18 free when accompanied by an adult.
Limit: 3 children per adult).

modified throughout his lifetime, the dramatic
spaces at Hillside showcase Wright’s
architectural mastery. You’ll see the
magnificent Drafting Studio that Wright called
an “abstract forest,” the Theater used by Wright
and the Fellowship for musical and theatrical
performances, the Assembly Hall overlooking the
Fellowship Dining Room, and visit two exhibit
rooms. Guides will trace the history of the site
and tell you about the progressive co-ed
boarding school Wright’s aunts first established
at Hillside in the 1880s, and you’ll see
projects that reflect the work of apprentices at
the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture
who are now designing for the 21st century. At
Hillside the past and future truly meet in an
extraordinary setting.

through the courtyards, gardens and personal
living space. The rooms are shaped with Wright's
genius and filled with furnishings of his
design. Frank Lloyd Wright had one of the
Western world's largest collections of Asian
art. A staggering array of these objects is on
display, as Wright intended, as an integral part
of the environment.
